Wow, look at us inching upon saying farewell to yet another amazing year. This is the season of reflection as we began running the memories of the past weeks, months and year. We start getting into conversations with ourselves and friends on the things that we have and…have not accomplished. This can make staying motivated at the end of the year very difficult.

But it doesn’t have to be.

Today, let’s talk about how to stay motivated at the end of the year and why it is important.

Staying motivated at the end of the year is just as important as listing goals at the beginning of the year.

1. Do NOT Compare Yourself to them.

Yes, I said it and I will say it again… DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO THEM… in all caps. This is number one because this is the first place that we go. We have all done it, spending hours scrolling down Facebook, getting thumb aches from trolling our top favorite Instagram accounts looking at all of the awesome photos, statues, and comments on their profiles… Then here comes that doubting ego that reminds us that we didn’t do everything that we wanted to or that we wished you had the successes that they had this year. I am here to tell you that none of that matters. Because their success is just that, theirs. Congratulate and support but do not compare yourself. By deleting this from your mindset you will stay focused on staying motivated even at the end of the year.

2. Celebrate ALL of Your Victories.

Every victory is a BIG one. There are no small or medium victories, every single goal that you did accomplish is a victory. Make sure you celebrate them. It is easy to focus on what isn’t there and ignore what is. You may not have completed everything you had on your list yet there may be some things that you did complete. Celebrate those, and get excited about the rest of them because those are up next! Celebrating all of your victories can get you pumped and keep you motivated at the end of the year!

It doesn’t matter how you start, it’s about how you finish.

3. Re-List Your Goals.

I can almost guarantee that your goals may have changed slightly from when you wrote them down at the beginning of the year. And that is okay! So what you can do now is sit back down and re-list those goals. Write your goals for where you are now in life and what it is you want to work on from this day forward. You may notice that there are some things on your ‘New Year Resolution’ list that you no longer are interested in and you have a new idea that you want to put in its place…go ahead write it down! By re-listing your goals you create a fresh and current list that you can focus on and it is more suitable for where you are now, not back then.

4. Trust Your Own Path

Trust, trust, and trust more than you are on your own path. Everyone else is handling their own path so don’t get caught up in worrying about what they are doing or what they have done. Focus on you because there is only one person that can walk down your path, that is you. Stay motivated by focusing more and trusting your own path you will start silencing that ego that tells you that you should be like someone else and do things like someone else. Yet, you can dig deep in accomplishing all of your goals the way YOU do it.

It is easier to put yourself in a slump when you start to reflect on your past. If you didn’t accomplish everything on your list, that is okay. I want you to remember that it doesn’t matter how you start, but how you finish. Because we all look for the special dance after the touchdown is made… I know I do!

The dancing starts after the touchdown.
