Do you have aspirations, dreams, and goals that require you to show up on camera or in a video? With social media, live streams and active audiences who enjoy seeing you in photos and videos sometimes the nerves can overtake you. Today I am sharing How to Look Confident in your Photos with 7 Easy Tips. We have all read the research that states more people rely on social media influence through photos and videos for everyday decisions and purchases. You may be one of the many entrepreneurs that have amazing talent but one thing is standing in your way…you need to get in front of the camera…but you keep putting it off because you just aren’t as comfortable as you would like to be. Let’s dig into my 7 tips starting with Tip #1, Throw your Hater Blockers On!

1. Wear Shades

Yes, my friend pull out your favorite sunglasses and watch yourself work! See the eyes are the key to the soul and you will notice that once you put on a pair of shades that block your eyes you will be more comfortable in your photos. Now I do not recommend this for video unless the situation is fitting. If you are at home in your studio I don’t think this would be a suitable situation to be wearing shades! But when you are taking photos, talking to your followers on Facebook Live or Instagram Stories it is all good. Give it a try, the next time you are taking photos for your blog/business or jumping on Social Media try slipping on your favorite sunglasses.

2. Learn your profile aka your ‘best’ side

Knowing your profile will help you to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Your profile is either you left or right side of your face. We all have a favorite side, take a look in the mirror and see which side you favor the most. This will be your go-to profile side when you are taking photos or snapping selfies for Instagram. You can also set your phone on your favorite profile side in the beginning stages of going LIVE! This will help boost your confidence and help you to feel more comfortable when talking to your followers for the first couple of times.

3. Play with your shoes.

More like ‘act’ as though you are adjusting or playing with your shoes. This will help get you outside of your thoughts and to start creating some movement in your photos. Which helps you to feel more comfortable in your photos by not thinking so hard about what to do next.

4. Use your phone as a prop.

Adding in props are always a great option when you are trying to shake some of those camera getters. Having your phone in hand is always an easy and quick option. Of course, this is for when you are having your photos taken an not when you or on Social Media Live Streams or Posting on Instagram Stories. But it works perfectly for using in your photoshoot.

5. Create an action

When you are naturally moving it helps tremendously to not stand in one place but to create movement. Think of some of the everyday motions you make. It may be walking, laughing, looking inside of your purse or bag, tying your shoes or adjusting your jacket. All these are great options when you want to create some type of action in your photos and while on video.

6. Pretend to look at the camera.

Once you have your sunglasses on you can look directly at the camera and have no fear! Even if you are not wearing sunglasses you can do a simple glance right above the camera lens that will help you to appear as though you are looking straight at the camera. This helps you to feel more comfortable in front of the camera without looking directly into the camera itself.

7. Take a seat.

Let’s be honest, sometimes we just feel better taking a seat and not standing. This is a good step to take if you are more comfortable in the beginning stages of being in front of the camera. The best part is you can still apply the majority of the tips above even while sitting down.
